Withsuccess for the Workshopin the contextofcross-border project ELPORTAL organized by Igoumenitsa Port Authority Thursday, the 29th of May2014, in Sivota, Thesprotia, Greece.

The workshop announced its joint environmental actions of the ports of Corfu-Igoumenitsa-Saranda and attended by representatives from the three ports, the Port Authority, the Region of Epirus, and stakeholders with the operation of the port.

During the workshop was analyzed in detail the specific application of the environmental management system for each of the three ports, the achievements up to date on the environmental certifications , issues on saving energy and resources, and the future goals for full compliance with international practice.

The participants in the workshop had the opportunity to learn inter alia specifically for technical measurement issues of biodiversity ports from V. Tselentis , Professor of Marine Environment of the University of Piraeus with examples of other ports to Greek and European level , and to focus on cooperating with the prospect of ' understanding ' of the three Ports - Cities, as aptly presented by Mr. A. Koskinas , President of the Association of Environmental Protection Corfu with historical references to the importance of the wider region in the past but today with the " Adriatic- Ionian " on Primary Sector , transferring equivalent under the more general context of ecological perception and tourist development , without losing the overall identity of the region.

The benefits of the program EL-PORT-AL, will be visible in the immediate future with the implementation of projects and interventions by the ports in their facilities.

Successfully organized by OLKE SA the Conference held 4/12/13 within the program EL-PORT-AL for joint environmental actions of the ports Corfu - Igoumenitsa - Saranda and attended by delegations from the three ports , the Port Authority , the Region of Ionian Islands , Corfu Municipality , Environmental Organisations and Associations and stakeholders involved with the operations of the port.

In particular, the objectives of the conference - achieved in a great part- are summarized as follows:

• Further enhancement and strengthening of ties between the Port of Corfu - Igoumenitsa - Sarande
• Need for Integration of water resources system
• Exchange of Knowledge and Information - Suggestions for better functioning of environmental systems,
• Monitoring and evaluation of the environmental situation by focusing on the improvement of the marine environment of the port and the region of the Ionian Sea , by comparing environmental indicators and measurements.
• Dissemination of information to create Environmental Library for environmental actions and practices adopted and inform the public with articles and newsletters via the Website (www.elportal.eu).
